Former Mangaluru Mayor Ajith Kumar passes away at 73

Mangaluru: Ajith Kumar (73), former Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation passed away on Monday at a private hospital in Manipal. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and extended family.

A distinguished civil engineer, Kumar was also a dedicated Congress Party member actively involved in several elections across the district. He shared close ties with senior party leaders and served as Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation from 1987 to 1988.

The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee expressed profound sorrow over his demise. Leading party figures, including former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily, former Union Minister Janardhana Poojary, District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, KPCC Working President Manjunath Bhandari, and District Congress President K. Harish Kumar, offered their condolences, highlighting Kumar’s contributions to the party and community.
