Moodbidri, Jan 29, 2020: The last rites of senior JD(S) leader and former minister Amarnath Shetty were held with full state honours at his hometown of Mundreguttu in Paladka village on January 28, Tuesday. The former minister had passed away on Monday following a brief illness.
Earlier thousands paid their last respects to the departed leader at his residence at Gandhinagar in Moodbidri. Thereafter the mortal remains were placed in an open vehicle and brought in front of the MCS Bank where Shetty had served as President. Later the mortal remains were taken to his hometown where the last rites were performed.
Senior leaders including MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Umanath Kotian, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLAs Bharath Shetty, UT Khader, former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, Alva’s Education Foundation President Dr Mohan Alva were among several who paid their last respects.
