Four-Day yellow alert issued in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi until June 16

Mangaluru, Jun 13, 2024: The monsoon has intensified in coastal districts, bringing intermittent heavy rains throughout Wednesday.

In Dakshina Kannada district, substantial rainfall was reported in Vittal, Kanyana, Kotekar, Beeri, Mudipu, Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Ujire, Bantwal, Madyantharu, Uppinangady, Puttur, Karaya, Perne, Sullia, Subramanya, Bellare, Moodbidri, and Ullal.

In Udupi, the incessant rains caused damage and destruction in several areas on Wednesday. Kundapur and Brahmavar experienced heavy rains, while Udupi city, Malpe, and Manipal saw moderate intermittent showers.

Several homes were damaged, including those of Vanaja Shettigar in Erlapady, Nagaratna in Koni village, Jahorobi in Yadthare, Puttamma in Kalthodu, Rukku Ganiga in Ulthoor, Bacchi in Navunda, and Satish Jathan in Ambalpady.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert from June 13 to 16, predicting significant rainfall accompanied by high-velocity winds.
