Fr Patrick Rodrigues, the director of Fr. Muller Medical Charitable Institutions, inaugurated the free 2-day Bone Mineral Density check up camp, which is to be held on October 17 and 18, on the premises of the hospital. The camp has been organized in order to celebrate the World Osteoporosis Day of October 20.
During his inaugural speech, Fr. Patrick said that, since osteoporosis is a growing medical problem among people in developing countries, people should be made aware of how to prevent this medical problem. He also said that people should eat a nutritious diet and perform regular exercises instead of consuming calcium tablets for their bones.
Dr. Edward L Nazareth, professor and head of the orthopedic surgery, welcomed the gathering. Dr. K Raghuveer Adiga, the professor of orthopedics proposed the vote of thanks.
More than 400 people have registered to participate in this free camp.
