Free Emergency Medical Service Centre’ of Unity hospital opened at Mangaluru Central Railway Station

Mangaluru Dec 26: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated ‘Free Emergency Medical Service Centre’ of Unity hospital, at Mangaluru Central Railway Station on Sunday, December 23.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said," I congratulate Habeeb Rehman for starting this free emergency medical service centre at Railway station which will be helpful for the passengers to avail free treatment. I am a frequent traveler in railway and I know the problems faced by passengers. There have been lots of complaints with regard to the facilities provided for the passengers in the train. Since 2014, the complaints have become less, but most of the complaints were health related complaints.”


“Mangaluru has been developing and even the process has commenced to make this railway station a world class station with development worth Rs 75 crore. Not only the government but private organisations also need to come forward in bringing development and give a strong message to private organisations that they can contribute to the development of the city,” he said.

Chairman Unity Hospital Habeeb Rehman said, "We are very delighted to start Free Emergency Medical Service Centre at railway station. Modern medicine is called as the rational medicine. Emergency is very important as it saves life which it is given in right place at right time. I am grateful to Southern Railway for giving permit to this centre by which passengers can assess the medical treatment.”

At present two nurses will be working in Emergency Medical Service Centre, in case of emergency, doctors will be called.

Station manager Rama Kumar, Southern Railway Area officer Sridhar, Dr J P Shetty and others were present.
