Ghastly road mishap at Ujjodi : Bike rider dies

Mangaluru, Dec 30, 2014: A ghastly road accident involving a bike and a tipper claimed the life of a young bike rider at Ujjodi on December 30, Tuesday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The deceased is Latish Kumar (29) hailing from Beeri, Kotekar, but a resident of Pandeshwar in Mangaluru.

Eyewitnesses said Latish who was in his bike was crushed between a bus and a tipper after the speeding tipper of the Navayug Engineering Company  crashed  against his bike from the rear.  Latish was behind a bus heading towards Gorigudde  from Pumpwell and was waiting for the bus which had halted at Ujjodi to proceed when the  mishap took place.

The tipper driver had fled the accident spot soon after. The vehicle was in neutral gear and moved backward making people run helter skelter. It even dragged Latish for upto nearly 100 meters before coming to a halt after falling into a roadside gorge. A car which was parked nearby was also damaged in the mishap.

The deceased Latish was a marketing agent for a private company and  has left behind his pregnant wife.

Mangaluru Rural Police have registered a case.
