Udupi, April 16: Magicians from Gili Gili Magic troupe of Udupi Professor Shankar and Shankar Junior performed their 90-minute magic shows for members of the country’s armed forces at various military camps in Sikkim recently
They had entertained nearly 1,500 Defence personnel in places such as Gangtok, Pedong, 5 Mile Gangtok, Rinchenpong, Chungbung and Thegu. Shankar Junior presented his “slight-of-hand miracles” at the famous snow covered tourist spot of Chhangu Lake.
Special stage
The most appreciated performance was at Thegu, at a height of 13,200 feet above sea level, held on a special stage between the snow-covered peaks near the Indo-China border.
Officers, including Col. Rajbir, Major Lakshminarayan, and Col. Rathore felicitated the two and applauded them for their unique performance.
They lauded Shankar Junior for performing a magic show at such heights to entertain the jawans of Indian Army. The Shankars participated in a seminar on magic at the Sikkim Manipal University at Gangtok. Vice-Chancellor of the Sikkim Manipal University S.S. Pabla was present.
