Girl’s presence of mind saves mother trapped under overturned auto

Mangaluru, September 9, 2024: A video of a seventh standard girl lifting an overturned autorickshaw in a bid to save her mother who had fallen under the vehicle has gone viral on social media̤ The incident took place at Ramanagar in Kinnigoli.

Chethana (35) of Rajaratnapura who is a pigmy collector was crossing the road when the driver of a speeding autorickshaw in a bid to avert hitting the woman, veered his vehicle to the roadside. However the autorickshaw overturned straight on the woman.

The woman’s daughter Vaibhavi who was a witness to this immediately rushed and tried to lift the overturned autorickshaw and later with the help of locals the woman was rushed to the hospital.

Chethana has sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Suratkal.

The girl’s presence of mind has been widely appreciated.
