Govt aims to plant six crore saplings : Ramanatha Rai

Mangaluru, July 10, 2017:  State Minister for Forest and DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has said that a project of planting six  crore saplings has been initiated  by the Chief Minister in the state.

The Minister was speaking at a Vanamahotsav programme organised  near Kadri Mallikatta under the joint aegis of the Journalists’ Association and Forest Department on July 10, Monday.

Rai informed that it has been decided to celebrate Vanamahotsav  in a special way this year with the slogan  Forests  for Water.  Greater awareness will be created on environment protection in the wake of increasing ecological imbalance due to Global Warming, the Minister added.

The Minister launched the programme by planting a Naga Sampige sapling. Range Forest officer C Sridhar, Mangaluru Tahsildar Mahadevappa, KSPCB Member Pius Rodrigues, District Working Journalists Association President  Jagannath Shetty Baala, journalists Ronald Anil Fernandes,  Pushparaj B N, Arif Padubidri, Srinivas Indaje, Ramakrishna, Harish Rai, District Information Officer Khader Shah and others were present.
