Mangalore, Jan 19, 2013: The students of Human Rights of Cell of Canara First Grade College staged a protest in front of DC Office on Jan 19, Saturday demanding the Union Government to initiate stern measures to prevent violence against women.
The protestors stated that the basic human rights of the women community have been frequently violated in India which is considered the most democratic state in the world where the constitution has guaranteed basic human rights in the form of fundamental rights to each and every citizen of the country.”It is the primary duty of the society and the government to protect the basic rights of the women,” they said.
The students also submitted a memorandum to the Union Government through Deputy Commissioner N Prakash demanding stern punishment to perpetrators of crime against women.
