Mangalore, Sep 27: Hundreds of Muslims, who will be going on the Haj pilgrimage this year, were vaccinated on September 27, Monday.
According to unofficial sources, over 200 pilgrims got vaccinated before 2:00 p.m. at the Yenepoya Hospital vaccination camp, which opened at 10:00 a.m. and closed at 4:30 p.m. The Wakf Board had already said that 520 people will get vaccinated for meningitis at the camp.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the state government will make all the required arrangements to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for the devotees. A direct flight to Jeddah will be arranged for hundreds of Haj pilgrims hailing from the coastal district.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna and Y. Abdulla Kunhi, the chancellor of Yenepoya University, attended the camp and wished the pilgrims well.
