Mangalore, November 1, 2009: Dakshina Kannada Kannada Sahitya Parishad in collaboration with Kalkura Foundation organized a public meeting on October 30, Friday, at Mallikatte Srikrishna Kalyana Mantapa to pay their last respects to Keremane Mahabala Hegde, the renowned Yakshagana artist who died on October 29, Thursday.
Renowned Yakshagana artists and scholars such as Bandagadde Nagaraj, G K Bhat Seraje, Polali Nityanand Karant, and others spoke about the various virtues of the deceased.
Members of the State Yakshagana Academy such as Chandrashekar Shetty, the former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad; Harikrishna Punanoor, the president of the district Kannada Sahitya Parishad; Pradeepkumar Kalkura, Janardhan Hande; Sudhakar Pejawar, and others were also present.
The assembled dignitaries showered petals of flowers on the portrait of the late Hegde as a tribute to his memory.
