Hundreds pay last respects to departed leader Oscar Fernandes

Udupi, Sep 14, 2021: A mass was held at the Mother of Sorrows Church in Udupi on September 14, Tuesday  to pray for the soul of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member  Oscar Fernandes who passed away at a hospital in Mangaluru on Monday.

Fr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi conducted the rituals.   State minister Kota Srinivas Poojary,  Congress leaders,  SP Vishnuvardhan, CEO of Udupi ZP Naveen Bhat and others were present.

Fr Valerian Mendonca, Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kalianpur delivered the homily.

From the church, the mortal remains were taken to the ancestral house of Oscar at Brahmagiri and from there it was brought to the Udupi District Congress Office. KPCC President D K Shivakumar, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Congress leaders Vinaykumar Sorake, Ivan D’Souza, U T Khader and others paid respects to the departed leader.
