Indian Coast Guard takes out seven-day walkathon from Karwar to Mangaluru

Mangaluru, January 29, 2025: A seven-day walkathon organised by the Indian Coast Guard, Karnataka, from Karwar on January 22 ended in Mangaluru on Tuesday.

The walkathon was organised to promote environmental and social awareness. Teams of the walkathon halted at Gokarna, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Kundapura, Udupi and nearby fishing villages and conducted coastal security interaction with with local police, coastal security police, college students and nearby fishing villagers.

The event also aimed to encourage people from all walks of life to join in and spread awareness about environmental sustainability, marine conservation, cyber security, physical fitness and national unity, a release here said.

The walkathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from multiple stakeholders, including personnel from the Coastal Security Police, State police, Fisheries Department, CISF, as well as students and faculty from various schools and colleges at all locations.

The event also served as a prelude to the Indian Coast Guard’s 49th Raising Day, which will be celebrated on February 1. Senior ICG officials spoke on for fostering a stronger bond between the Indian Coast Guard and coastal communities.
