Intercollegiate folk dance contest held in city

Mangalore, Aug 12, 2012: Tulu Sahitya Academy President Umanath Kotian inaugurated Mariyalada Minadana, a folk dance contest for college students jointly organized by Shri Narayanaguru Yuvavedike and the Tulu Sahitya Academy at Town Hall on August 12, Sunday. 

 

In his address, he spoke of the importance of instilling cultural values in children and regretted that modern parents are focusing only on preparing their children for salaried jobs.

Students from 22 colleges took part in the competition. 

Former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake and ZP CEO Dr. Vijayakumar were also present.
