JBF contract worker climbs chimney tower, threatens suicide

Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2018: A contract worker   of the JBF Petrochemicals Company  located at SEZ area  climbed the chimney tower of the plant on November 24, Saturday and threatened to commit suicide  reportedly over non-payment of salary since the past four months.

 

 

 

The worker who attempted suicide has been identified as Sanjay  Yadav (35). He is of Bihar origin and reportedly needed funds for his sister’s wedding. Finding no other way he had decided to take the extreme step.

Company officials who rushed to the spot convinced him against taking such an extreme step.

Sources revealed that the company has not been paying its employees as well as contract workers since a year and that the repeated pleas of the employees had fallen on deaf ears.
