Mangalore, Dec 8: The Kadri Academy organized a violin-flute jugalbandi to celebrate the 60th birthday of the internationally acclaimed saxophonist Padmashree Dr Gopalnath, at Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University College, Mangalore, on Dec 7, Monday.
Ananthakrishna, Chairman of Karnataka Bank, was the chief guest of the occasion. In his speech, he said that it is great to celebrate the 60th birthday of a legendary saxophone player on the occasion of the World Tulu Convention. He also recalled that the eminent saxophonist gave his first performance in Karnataka Bank.
Later he felicitated the artistes of the jugalbandi. Kadri Gopalnath couple was felicitated by Sharavu Raghavendra Shastri.
Pathibha Samaga delivered the key-note address.
Saptagiri Vidhwanmani A Kanyakumari of Chennai and Pandit Praveen Godkhindi of Bangalore performed the jugalbandhi.They were accompanied by Vidhwan B Hari Kumar of Trichy, Pandith Rajendra Nakod of Bangalore and Vidhwan B Rajashekar of Bangalore on mridangam, tabla, and morsing, respectively.
