K S Hegde Hospital launches Telemedicine facility via WhatsApp

Mangaluru, March 28, 2020:  In a novel initiative to help patients in the wake of the 21-day lockdown, the K S Hegde Hospital at Derlakatte has launched a telemedicine Clinic wherein Telemedicine facility is provided to patients via WhatsApp. The  measure, a first of its kind in the state during the present  Corona crisis, is intended to help patients who are put to hardship due to closure of OPD facilities at various hospitals.

 

The hospital has provided a list of WhatsApp numbers of various departments. The name, age and sex of the patient has to be sent through WhatsApp. In case the  patent is a child, the weight of the child has to be mentioned. Based on the complaint mentioned in the WhatsApp  message, the doctors of the particular department will  call back the patient if necessary. The prescription will also be WhatsApped to the patient.
