KSRTC buses off roads as staff begin indefinite strike

Mangaluru, April 07, 2021:      KSRTC buses are off the roads in Dakshina Kannada district on April 7, Wednesday as   employees began a  state level indefinite strike  after the state government has declined to implement the 6th Pay Commission for employees of transport corporations.  Increase in salary in accordance to the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission on par with the government employees has been the main demand of the employees. The  strike is being observed by the various KSRTC  staff union under the banner of Karnataka State Road Transport Employees League.

Buses can be seen lined up at KSRTC bus stand at Bejai in Mangaluru as well as other  government bus stands of the district. Some people with luggage are also seen at the bus stands with a hope that bus services would resume.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made and police personnel have been deployed at all KSRTC bus stands in the wake of the strike.
