Mangalore, Feb 24: “Kannada must flourish in Tulunad,” said District-in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, after inaugurating the office of the 16th Kannada Sahithya Sammelan at Krishna Complex, Kodialbail on Feb 24, Wednesday. He requested the people of Tulunad to fully support this 3-day event.
The minister also launched the logo of the 16th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, which was designed by Shivaprasad K Achar, a I PUC student of Vivekananda College, Puttur.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, said that the 16th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan organized by the Kannada Sammelan Reception Committee, will be held from March 15 – 17. He said that, as part of the Sammelan, a food festival will also be organized at Nehru Maidan. Various cultural programmes will also be organized overnight on all 3 days, he informed.
MLA Yogesh Bhat said that the Sammelan, which will organize overnight cultural programmes, will surely be a record maker, adding that the event will provide a huge opportunity for the people to showcase their artistic and cultural talents.
Kumble Sunder Rao, the president of the Yakshagana Academy; Ivan D’Souza, the congress leader; Sharavu Raghavendra Shastri, the priest of Sharavu Temple; and Harikrishna Punaroor, the former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
