Kargil Hero Yogendra Singh Yadav exhorts young minds

Mangaluru, Aug 10, 2015: Kargil Hero and Param Vir Chakra awardee Subedar Yogendra Singh Yadav  has said that his father who   was a former army man had inspired him to join the defence services and serve the nation.


 

 

 

 

Giving a talk on ‘Words of a Real Hero’ under the aegis of Yuva Brigade at Canara High School premises on August 9, Sunday, Yadav said he got an opportunity to fight for his motherland at a very young age. 

The Param Vir Chakra awardee who had  managed to survive despite several bullets during the Kargil war and had killed four Pak soldiers recollected his first posting in Srinagar where the army men had a major challenge in combating terrorists.

On his experience during Kargil war, Yadav said  the Kargil war was about to start when he returned to duty on May 20 after his weding on May 5. He recalled the valiant and brave efforts put in by Indian soldiers even in the most adverse weather conditions  in the Dras sector during Tiger Hill Operation. Climbing the steep hill was a   daunting challenge and our soldiers managed to accomplish the task despite injuries and fought  valiantly, he said.

Yadav also urged youngsters to imbibe good virtues and always think of ways in which they can  serve the nation and contribute to nation building activities.

Farmer Frank Fernandes who recently averted a train mishap  after knowing about the damage caused to the railway track at Bondel Pachanady was honoured on the occasion  along with  Yogendra Singh Yadav.

On this occasion, Yadav released the logo of 1965 ‘War of Tankers’ to mark its golden jubilee.

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Chakravarthy Sulibele  and others were present.
