Karnataka Bank appoints Balachandra YV as COO and Gokuldas Pai as Chief Business Officer

Mangaluru, May 9, 2019: Karnataka Bank has promoted two of its General Managers,  Balachandra Y V and Gokuldas Pai, as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Business Officer respectively, said a release from the bank.

Balachandra Y V, native of Yadagere in N. R. Pura Taluk, Chikkamagaluru District, is a Post Graduate in Commerce, a Fellow member of Institute of Company Secretaries of India [ICSI], New Delhi and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB).  He started his career in the Bank in 1995 as Manager. In 1997 he was designated as Company Secretary. He was elevated to the cadre of Chief Manager in 2004 and Assistant General Manager in 2008. In 2011, he was promoted as Deputy General Manager and continued to head the Bank’s Secretarial Department at HO. In January 2015, he assumed additional responsibilities as Head of the Bank’s Inspection & Information Security Audit Department along with Secretarial Department. He was promoted to the cadre of General Manager in March 2017 and was in charge of Treasury & Accounts Dept., Retail Credit Dept., Planning & Development Dept, IT Bus Cell and Credit Sanctions at different period and was also the CFO [Chief Financial Officer] of the Bank. On promotion to the cadre of Chief General Manager he will be the Chief Operating Officer and will be overall in-charge of Treasury & Accounts Dept, Credit Monitoring Dept., Legal & Recovery Dept, IT & MIS Dept and HR & IR Dept. 

Gokuldas Pai started his career in the Bank as an agriculture field officer in 1990. Over the last 29 years he has served in various cadres both at operational and administrative levels, at various locations. He was elevated as a Chief Manager in March 2008 and headed the Bank’s Kolkata - Park Street Branch. He was elevated to the position of Assistant General Manager in 2011 and headed the Bank’s Kolkata Region. Shri Gokuldas Pai was promoted as Deputy General Manager in 2014 and headed the Bank’s Bengaluru Region. He was promoted to the cadre of General Manager in October 2017. Since then he was heading the Transformation Department as Chief Transformation Officer [CTrO] of the Bank. On promotion to the cadre of Chief General Manager he will be the Chief Business Officer of the Bank and will be overall in-charge of Credit Marketing, Credit Sanctions, Branch Banking & Digital Channels [BBDC] and Transformation Cell. He is a Post Graduate in Agricultural Science and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB).

Gokuldas Pai, is a native of Baidabettu Village, Udupi District. He did his primary and high school education at Kokkarne, Udupi District and graduation and post graduation at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru.
