Mangalore, Nov 13: The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy organized a programme to confer the Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy Award 2008 and to distribute prizes among the winners of the Beary literature contest at Town Hall on Nov 13, Friday.
Dr. N Mogasale, the working president of Kanthavara Kannada Sangha; B Ahmad Haji Muhiudeen, the president of the Muhiudeen Education Trust, Thumbe; and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishad were the chief guests of this programme.
P Mohammed and Hamza Malar, members of the Beary Sahitya Academy, introduced the 3 recipients of this award—Ibrahim Thanneerbavi, U A Khasim Ullal, and Mohammed Kulai Krishan J Palemar, the district in-charge minister, conferred the awards on them.
Abdul Aziz Baikampady, the member of the Academy, made the welcome speech. S H Shiva Rudrappa, the registrar of the Academy, delivered the key-note address. Rahim Uchil was the master of ceremonies. M B Abdul Rehaman, the president of the Academy, presided over the programme.
Hussain Katipalla and his troupe presented a Beary cultural programme; and Ibrahim Thanneerbavi and his troupe staged a Beary play “Angalapu.”
