Bengaluru, Jul 19, 2021: Karnataka colleges will be reopening from July 26 and only those who are vaccinated will be allowed to attend, the state government has decided. The government is yet to released detailed SOPs and guidelines on the matter. Higher educational institutions will be reopening partially or fully, keeping in place the Covid-19 safety norms.
CM BS Yediyurappa conducted a meeting with ministers after which the decision was announced, as per an ANI tweet.
65% students already vaccinated
Karnataka Deputy CM CN Ashwathnarayan had said on July 16 that a date will be fixed for resuming degree classes within 2-3 days. He had added that 65% of the students studying in government, government-aided, private institutions had been vaccinated.
Contact classes for degree exam students
He had also noted that contact classes would be help to help students appearing for degree course exams. Students can use these classes for any doubt-clearing or other clarifications needed to prepare for the exams.
Practical exam dates announced for odd and even semester diploma courses
The deputy CM had also announced the practical exam dates for odd and even semester diploma courses on July 16.
The odd semester practical exams would be held from July 26 to 28, but the theory exams for any remaining subjects would be held from August 2 to 21, 2021.
The even semester practical exams would be held from November 2 to 12, 2021, and the theory exams would be held from November 17, 2021, to December 6, 2021.
Medical and dental colleges reopening in Karnataka
The Karnataka government had also decided to reopen all medical and dental colleges with immediate effect on Friday. There is no news on the school reopening date in the state, however.
