Karnataka mulls unlocking in 5 phases

Bengaluru, Jun 09, 2021:    The Karnataka government is likely to initiate the unlock process in 5 phases, Revenue Minister R Asoka said on Wednesday.

 

To begin with the government may extend trade timing till 12 noon and allow walking and jogging in parks, he said.

However, these are subject to approval by the Chief Minister, he added.

Karnataka had extended its Covid-19 lockdown till June 14 and speculations are that steps will be taken for a graded unlocking, as was also suggested by the state’s technical advisory committee.

The state, which until a few days ago was reporting a high number of daily infections and deaths, has seen a decline over the past few days.
