Kasargod, Mar 21, 2017 : A Madarasa teacher was found murdered with his throat slit at his residence at Halechoori in Battampare on March 21, Tuesday morning.
The deceased Riyaz (34) who hailed from Madikeri worked in a Madarasa close by the Muhiyuddeen mosque at Halechoori since nine years. He was staying in the accomodation provided by the mosque along with the Khateeb Abdul Azeez who stayed in an adjacent room.
According to Azeez he had heard someone screeming at atound midnight. Though he had rushed out, stones were pelted at him forcing him to remain in. Soon after he entered the mosque through an inner door and made an announcement regarding the incident. When locals rushed, Riyaz was found dead in a pool of blood.
The suspicion is that two assailants who came by a bike had killed the teacher.
Senior police officials have rushed to the spot. The body has been shifted to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, a hartal is being observed today from 6 am to 6 pm as per the call given by the Muslim League to condemn the murder.
