Kasragod, Dec 26, 2015: The Kaliyata Mahotsava of Kanathur Sree Nalvar Daivasthana, a famous centre of Theyyam performance, will be held on December 28. Various rituals will be observed on the occasion.
Kanathoor Nalvar is one of the most popular festivals of north Kerala. It is located in Muliyar Grama Panchayat of Kasragod district. It is also called Kanathoor Nalvar Bhoothasthanam. Theyyams are the ritual dances performed by men of the northern part of the district of Kerala.
The different types of Theyyams that will be presented during this festival are Elayor Theyyam, Chamundi Theyyam, Panchurli Theyyam, Muthor Theyyam, Raktheshwari Theyyam, Pashanamoorthy and Vishnumoorthy etc.
The temple is known for fulfilling wishes of devotees. A large number of devotees from Northern Kerala, Dakshina Kannada District and Kodagu district will attend the function, which is known for its pomp and gaiety.
The festival will end on January 3, 2016.
