Kateel Mela all night shows: DC says HC guidelines on noise pollution regulations must be adhered to

Mangaluru, Jan 12, 2024: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner has instructed Kateel Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Melas to strictly adhere to the High Court orders relating to noise pollution regulations. He has said that it was the responsibility of the temple management to see that all rules are followed.

 

Earlier on 15-11-2022, the DC in an order had considered Yakshagana as a special case and had permitted to hold the shows until 12.30 pm instead of the earlier 10 pm. However a person named Krishnakumar had challenged this in the High Court. The High Court in its order dated 28-11-2023 had asked the DC to take appropriate action regarding the duration of the Yakshagana  show.

It may be recalled here that the Temple Management has already stated that the all night shows of Kateel Mela would commence from January 14.
