Koodiyattam and Bharatanatyam performance in city on May 14

Mangaluru, May 12, 2019: Ammannur Rajaneesh Chakyar and Ammannur Madhav Chakyar,  from Thrissur, will present Koodiyattam in Mangaluru on May 14, Tuesday at Don Bosco Hall,  6.00 PM. The theme for the evening is ’Kalyanasaugandhikam’. They will be ably supported by Kalamandalam Ravikumar and Kalamandalam Rahul on the Mizhavu.

Koodiyattam, also transliterated as Kutiyattam, is a traditional performing art form in the state of Kerala, India. It is a combination of ancient Sanskrit theater with elements of Koothu, a Tamil/Malayalam performing art which is as old as Sangam era.  

It will be followed at 7 pm,  by a performance by Radhika Shetty,  a renowned Bharatanatyam artiste of Mangaluru. Solo thematic Bharatanatyam presentation ’Gopika Prasaarana’;  She will be supported by Vidyashree Radhakrishna on the natuvangam,  Swarag on vocals,  Balachandra Bhagawath on mridangam and Nithish Ammannaya on flute.
