Kotekar Co-op Bank dacoity case: Cops recover pistol used by accused

Mangaluru, February 3, 2025: Police have traced the pistol used by the Kotekar Co-operative Bank dacoity case accused. The pistol reportedly hidden by the accused Shashi Thevar near Ajjinadka was traced and recovered.

One of the arrested accused Murugan D Thevar had during interrogation divulged the place where the pistol was hidden near Ajjinadka. It may be recalled here that during spot mahajar on Saturday Murugan had tried to flee by attacking constable Manjunath. He was immediately caught after Ullal Inspector Manjunath shot him in his leg. He is presently in hospital.

The pistol was later found concealed in a heap of mud inside three plastic covers.

Meanwhile, a police team has left for Mumbai following information that absconding Shashi Thevar was in hiding in Mumbai.

Police have so far arrested four accused in this case and are on the lookout for the remaining three absconding accused.
