Kudupu assault, death case: Police arrest 15 accused

Mangaluru, April 29, 2025: Police have arrested as many as 15 persons in connection with an assault case leading to the death of an unidentified man near Kudupu on the evening of April 27.

City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal on Tuesday gave more details regarding the case.

He also gave details about the identities of the accused. Those arrested are Sachin T (26), Devadas (50), Manjunath (32), Saideep (29), Nitesh Kumar alias Santosh (33), Dikshith Kumar (32), Sandeep (23), Vivian Alvares (41), Sridatta (32), Rahul (23), Pradeep Kumar (35), Manish Shetty (21), Dhanush (31), Dikshith (27) and Kishore Kumar (37). All the arrested men are residents of Kudupu vicinity.

The incident took place at around 3 pm on April 27 during a cricket match at a ground in Kudupu. The accused reportedly attacked the man with hands and sticks after a quarrel ensued. Despite efforts by some to prevent the accused, the assault continued and the man died.

A case was registered as per a complaint filed by Deepak Kumar of Kulshekhar. The post mortem revealed that the man died of multiple injuries and internal bleeding.

Investigations revealed that there were over 25 accused in this case.
