Mangalore, July 24, 2012 : The Kulshekar unit of ICYM and the Youth and Cultural Committee jointly organized Cordel Youth Café, a seminar for the youth of Kulshekar Church in the church hall.
Rev. Dr. Robert Miranda, bishop of Gulbarga, and Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, parish priest of Kulshekar, inaugurated the event.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Robert Miranda spoke of the importance of organizing interactive events such as Cordel Youth Café as it is such organizations that produce stars at the local as well as national levels. Speaking of the role of the youth in building society, he said that the voice of the youth is the voice of society.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Pinto said that the Cordel Youth Café is the first event of its kind in Kulshekar parish. He said that the event includes games, discussion, music, snacks, and fun. The purpose of organizing the event is to build leadership qualities among the youth, he said.
Cordel Youth Café comprised interactive sessions and discussions on serious issues such as Christian Faith, My Role in My Parish, Inter-caste Marriage, Role of Today’s Youth in Indian Unity, and others.
Among the dignitaries present were Fr. Alwyn D’Souca, previous ICYM national director; Mr. Praveen Patrao, vice president of Kulshekar parish; Sushil Noronha, ICYM animator; and many others.
