Kumta : Protestors torch vehicle of IGP ; lathi-charged

Honnavar, Dec 11, 2017:  The protest organised at Kumta to condemn the killing of Paresh Mestha in Honnavar, has turned violent with some miscreants   torching the vehicle of IGP Hemanth Limbavalkar.  Police have resorted to lathi charge to quell the mob which went on rampage and  began   torching the tyres of vehicles.

 

According to eyewitnesses nearly 1000 Hindu activists had gathered in the town for the protest. A Sub-Inspector of Police too has been injured in the incident.

Sources said police are having a tough time in bringing the situation under control.
