Kundapur Hijab row: Students take out procession

Kundapur, Feb 05, 2022: Some students of the RN Shetty College and Bhandarkar’s College of Kundapur took out a procession in the town wearing saffron shawls on February 5, Saturday in protest against the  wearing of Hijab by Muslim students.

 

 

 

 

The students  who raised slogans like Jai Sriram and Jai Shivaji said they will wear saffron shawls if Muslim students are allowed to wear Hijab.

Following the confusion that prevailed over the protest, a holiday was declared to the R N Shetty College after police discussed the issue with the college management.

Students of Bhandarkar’s College  who took out a procession until their college wearing saffron shawls, later entered the college campus after removing their shawl.

Security has been tightened in the town and DAR and KSRP personnel have been pressed into service.
