Kundapur Youth Prithviraj Shetty selected for Deaf T20 Cricket World Cup

Kundapur, August 28, 2023: The Indian squad for the Deaf T20 Cricket World Cup to be held in Qatar later this year has been announced. Prithviraj Shetty of the taluk has been selected for the Hunchani team. He is the only player from Karnataka in the deaf national team.

Prithviraj is the son of the Late Subhash Chandra Shetty and Shelavathi of the Golihole village of Bindur Taluk. Although he was born deaf, it did not stop him from realizing his dream of playing cricket.

Prithviraj is an alumnus of Vagoti School for Children with Disabilities, Moodbage Amparu. He plays for the Torpados team in the city and works as a part-time coach of the Chakraborty cricket team. He is the captain of the Karnataka Speech Impaired cricket team. He performed well in the recently held tri-ODI series and the Champions Trophy tournament.

The Deaf T20 Cricket World Cup will be held from December 1 to 12 in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
