Kundapura: Grocery shop gutted in fire, losses exceed ₹4 lakh

Kundapura, April 10, 2025: A grocery store on Chikkanasalu Road was gutted by fire on Wednesday morning, with damages estimated at over ₹4 lakh.

The shop, owned by Chandrashekhar—widely known as Chandranna—caught fire shortly after he lit a lamp and left to visit the nearby Sri Mailareswara Temple. Within minutes, the blaze engulfed the entire store.

Valuable items, including a brand-new refrigerator, cupboards, display shelves, and grocery stock, were completely destroyed.

Fire and emergency services responded swiftly and managed to stop the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
