Kundapura: Jet ski capsizes at Trasi beach: Rider missing, tourist rescued

Kundapura, Dec 22, 2024: A jet ski boat carrying a tourist capsized, leading to two people falling into the sea, and the jet ski rider going missing in an incident that occurred at Trasi Beach on Saturday evening. The missing rider has been identified as Rohidas alias Ravi (45), while the tourist from Bengaluru was rescued.


Jet Ski Capsizes at Trasi Beach


The incident took place when a jet ski operated by Beluga Water Sports at Trasi Beach was taking a tourist on a ride in the sea. The jet ski rider lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. Safety precautions, including providing a life jacket to the tourist before the ride, ensured the tourist’s safety and rescue.

The rescued tourist has been identified as Prashanth from Bengaluru. During the ride, the jet ski overturned, throwing both the tourist and the rider into the sea. While Prashanth was saved due to wearing a life jacket, the rider, Rohidas, went missing.

Rohidas, a resident of Murudeshwar and currently living in Trasi, earned his livelihood by operating jet skis and other boat rides. Search operations are underway for the missing rider, involving Gangolli police, the coastal police force and local residents. A case has been registered at Gangolli police station.
