Lady lecturer succumbs days after donating part of liver to relative

Mangaluru, September 17, 2024: A lady lecturer of a college in the city who had recently donated a part of her liver to a relative, has died on Sunday after falling ill suddenly.

The deceased is Archana Kamath (33). It is learnt, a relative of her husband was unwell and need a liver transplant. After efforts were made to match her blood group to several prospective donors failed, the blood group of Archana had matched that of the relative and Archana had agreed to donate a part of her liver.

Accordingly the surgery was done at a hospital in Bengaluru and Archana was even discharged from hospital.

However she recently fell ill all of a sudden and was shifted to the hospital where she succumbed. Meanwhile, the woman to whom she donated a part of her liver is reported to be fine.

Archana who had served as a lecturer in Canara College had later joined Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management. She is survived by her husband C A Chethan Kamath and a four year old son.
