Mangalore, Oct 10, 2012: Eminent personalities, political leaders and business associates paid respect to Ganapathi Pai, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharath Group, in the premises of Group head quarters near C V Nayak Hall on October 11, Thursday.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Congress Leader B. Janardhana Poojary, Naveen D’Souza, MLC Monappa Bhandary, BJP leader Srikar Prabhu and friends, relatives, staff members of Bharath Group paid their final respects to the departed soul.
Sri Ganapathi Pai passed away at 11:00 p.m. on October 10, Wednesday at his residence in Mangalore, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. He was suffering from respiratory disorders for some time.

Today Bharat Group employs more than 50,000 people with Rs. 400 crore turnover. Although his father Manjunath Pai established the business with the No. 30 bidi brand, it was Ganapathi Pai who took it to great heights. As he was the eldest son, he joined his father’s business as early as in 1954.
Bharat Group includes Bharath Beedie Works Pvt. Ltd., Bharath Exports, Bharath Builders, Bharath Printers and Alaknanda Printers, Bharath Auto Cars, Bharath Mall, and Bookmark. It also runs two educational institutions and a cultural centre in Karkala.
He is survived by his wife Geetha Pai, two sons, Ananth, Anand and daughters Roopa and Rekha.
