Leopard captured in Savanalu Village after two months of panic

Beltangady, Sep 1, 2024: A leopard that had been terrorizing Savanalu village for the past two months was successfully captured late Saturday night.

The forest department had placed a cage near the residence of Gurikanda Ananda two months ago, using a hen as bait to catch the elusive predator. On Saturday night, the leopard entered the cage while attempting to catch the hen and was finally trapped.

Local forest officials were immediately notified and arrived at the scene to secure the animal. The capture has brought immense relief to the villagers, who had been living in constant fear of the leopard’s presence.
