Lokayukta catches Udupi Treasury Officials red-handed taking bribe for pension release

Udupi, November 17, 2024: The Lokayukta police arrested the Deputy Director and an assistant of the Udupi Treasury on Saturday while they were accepting a bribe to release pension funds for a retired teacher.

It is reported that retired teacher Hitendra Bhandari had been trying for the past five months to obtain his pension funds, during which Deputy Director Ravi Kumar and assistant Raghavendra allegedly harassed him and demanded a bribe of ₹5,000.

Following a complaint by Hitendra Bhandari to the Lokayukta, a team led by Udupi in-charge Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Manjunath, along with Mangaluru Lokayukta Inspectors Suresh and K.N. Chandrashekhar, conducted an operation. They caught Ravi Kumar and Raghavendra red-handed while accepting the bribe.

Lokayukta personnel, including Nagaraj, Satish, Prasanna, Ramesh, Suraj, Sudheer, Raghavendra, Pushpalata, and Mallika, participated in the operation.
