The Lokayukta, Justice N. Santhosh Hegde, informed reporters that the Lokayukta will not investigate the recent land scams because a judicial enquiry into the same has already been ordered by the state government. He added that the Lokayukta might take up the case if the judicial investigation report is found to be biased and partial, as long as it receives a formal complaint in this regard. He also clarified that the Lokayukta lacks the required suo moto powers to investigate cases on its own.
