Loss of life in bike mishap: Rider sans license slapped penalty, owner gets 2 years jail

Puttur, November 29, 2024: A court in Puttur has sentenced a bike owner to two years imprisonment and has slapped a penalty of Rs 5000 on the unlicensed bike rider for causing an accident that claimed the life of a woman.

The mishap took place at Nettanige Mudnur Kotyadi on February 27, 2022. Shahid of Muliyour who did not have a driving license was driving a bike of Kerala registration when it hit Duggamma (55) who was standing on the roadside following which the woman had died.

A case was registered in Sampya police station against the rider and the bike owner Mohammad Shakir. The bike owner Mohammad has also been slapped a penalty of Rs 5,000 apart from 2 years jail.
