MAHE’s first VC Dr. M. S. Valiyathan passes away

Manipal, July 18, 2024: Dr M S Valiyathan who had served as the first Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) passed away on Wednesday night. He was 90. He was a well-known cardiologist.

Dr Valiyathan who was instrumental in founding the Sri Chitra Tirunal institution in Tiruvananthapuram  had served as MAHE’s first VC in the year 1993 and had contributed significantly towards the development of the institution.

He was the recipient of Padma Vibhushana, Padma Shree, Dr B C Roy National Award and many other honours.
