Mangaluru, April 23, 2025: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has continued its initiative to impose fines on public waste-generating establishments, including hotels, bars, and restaurants, that fail to comply with the rule requiring segregation of wet waste, dry waste, and sanitary pads at the source.
As part of this ongoing enforcement drive, a team of officials led by MCC Commissioner Ravichandra Naik conducted inspections in the Kottara and Urvastores areas on Wednesday. Hotels, bars, and restaurants that did not segregate waste at the source and hand it over to sanitation workers were each fined ₹5,000.
The corporation has announced that this process will be carried out regularly. As a warning, an initial fine of ₹5,000 will be imposed, followed by ₹25,000 for repeated violations. If establishments continue to ignore waste segregation rules even after this, the MCC will initiate action to cancel their licenses, the Commissioner warned.
