MLA JR Lobo inaugurates Special Olympics 2016

Mangaluru Sep 17, 2016 : MLA JR Lobo inaugurated Special Olympics-2016 at Mangala Stadium on September 17 Saturday.Speaking on the occasion, Lobo said coaching the special children  in sports on a daily basis is a very challenging job. He also stated that  special children had received more care and concern in the district  when compared to other districts.

Lobo further stated that the government was assisting special children in various ways by providing them good amenities and helping them join the mainstream.

 Chief Whip of Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza who also spoke,  such sports events help the special children to showcase their sporting talents.

Former Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Jaya Vittal, Madhav Suvarna, Yathiraj Salian and others were present

As part of the Special Olympics, sports events will be conducted both for Low Functioning and High Functioning athletes. This event will also be the selection camp  for the  State Level Athletic Selection Championship at Jaipur.

Teams from Davangere, Dharwad, Gadag, Dakshina Kannada, Bellary, Shivamogga and Mysuru  are participating in the event.
