MLA Vedavyas Kamath demands Rs 300 crore rain relief package for DK

Mangaluru, August 3, 2024: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has urged the state government to announce a special rain relief package of Rs 300 crores to Dakshina Kannada which has suffered much loss of property due to heavy rains.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, the MLA said several houses have been damaged due to rains while there have been much crop loss. He urged the CM to release compensation immediately.

He also said during the earlier Yediyurappa led BJP government, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh was provided in case a house was totally damaged, while Rs 2.5 lakh compensation was provided for partially damaged houses. He said the present government has gone bankrupt and demanded at least compensation from NDRF if the government fails to provide relief.

He said the CM has not yet visited the district and was busy in saving his chair due to the MUDA scam.

BJP leaders Ramesh Kandettu, Ravishanker Mijar, Poornima and others were present.
