MLC Ivan D’Souza leads delegation to address illegal sand mining in Pavoor-Uliya

Mangaluru, September 28, 2024: MLC Ivan D’Souza, along with Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh president Alwyn D’Souza and a delegation, visited Pavoor-Uliya Island to inspect illegal sand mining.

The group, including former president Paul Rolphy D’Costa and other zone/unit leaders, was received by Fr Manohar D’Souza of Infant Jesus Church. They listened to local grievances and assessed the sand mining situation.

The delegation plans to meet the deputy commissioner on Monday, September 30, and will submit a memorandum in Bengaluru on Thursday, October 3, to officials including the chief minister, requesting an immediate ban on illegal sand mining in Pavoor-Uliya and surrounding areas. They also assured locals of efforts to expedite the construction of a hanging bridge at Pavoor-Uliya in collaboration with Speaker U T Khader.
