MLC polls : Kishore Kumar Botyady of the BJP wins in the by-election

Mangaluru, October 24, 2024: Kishore Kumar Botyady of the BJP has won the MLC by-election from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi local authorities constituency.

He defeated Raju Poojary of the Congress party by a margin of 1697 votes. The by-election was held for the post that fell vacant following the resignation of Kota Srinivas Poojary who got elected as an MP.

Of the total 5912 votes polled, Kishore Kumar secured 3654 votes, while Raju Poojary got 1957 votes followed by Anwar Sadath of SDPI who got 195 votes. A total of 87 votes were declared as void.

The by-election was held on October 21.
