Malpe: Fishing boat capsizes; 2 fishermen rescued

Malpe, January 8, 2025: A boat capsized after hitting a wooden log in the sea at Gangolli resulting in much loss. Two fishermen on board have been rescued.

The purse-seine boat owned by Samjatha of Malpe was returning to Gangolli when a wooden log rammed into the boat on Tuesday evening. Soon water started gushing inside the boat giving room for fears that it would sink. Fishermen from another boat immediately swung into action and rescued the fishermen on the sinking boat. Then the boat was towed towards the shore with the help of another boat.

The loss has been estimated at Rs 65 lakhs.
